Go First Crisis: DGCA Directs Airline To Stop Ticket Sales Immediately, Issues Show Cause Notice

Go First Insolvency: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India’s aviation regulator, has issued a show-cause notice to Go First airline for their failure to continue operating in a safe, efficient and reliable manner, a source told PTI. Aviation regulator DGCA has also directed GoFirst to stop selling tickets with immediate effect till further orders.

Earlier, vulnerable airline GoFirst said it had canceled all its flights till May 12. The Wadia Group-owned carrier has filed a petition for voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), and the tribunal has reserved its order. ,

Initially, the airline canceled all flights for three days from May 3 and later extended it till May 9. Now flights have been canceled till May 12, while aviation regulator DGCA said the airline suspended ticket sales till May 15.

The watchdog has also directed the airline to process refunds to passengers as per the timelines specifically prescribed in the relevant regulations.

Go First accused engine manufacturer P&W of not supplying engines for the Airbus A320 aircraft, resulting in the grounding of half its fleet. This put a cash crunch on the airline, which eventually resulted in bankruptcy.

The airline said it would approach courts in various countries against US engine maker Pratt & Whitney.
