Küchler proposed an exchange of agreements between the two institutions on the above areas of interest, including deals on introducing Yoga and Ayurveda in Germany and bringing their medical practices to Andhra Pradesh.

German Consul General in Chennai Michaela Küchler on Thursday met Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Viddala Rajani and expressed interest in exploring medical student exchange programs and research ties between the southern Indian state and Germany. Küchler proposed an exchange of agreements between the two institutions on the above areas of interest, including deals on introducing Yoga and Ayurveda in Germany and bringing their medical practices to Andhra Pradesh.

“After discussing the possibilities, we are ready to move forward and work with the Andhra Pradesh government,” Kuchler said in a press note shared by the state government today. He said Germany is always grateful to India for its cooperation during the coronavirus pandemic, noting that his country imported antibiotics and surgical supplies for the first time from the South Asian country. The Consul General highlighted that these imports are still continuing. Meanwhile, Rajini invited German companies to invest in the Medtech zone in the port city of Visakhapatnam.

Kuchler was accompanied by Amita Desai, Honorary Consul General of Germany in Hyderabad. Küchler’s consular jurisdiction as Consul General for Germany in Chennai includes Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
