“As a recent GW alum, I am deeply disturbed by these reports of an anti-Semitic hate crime and I am saddened to see that the prevalence of anti-Semitism on campus reflects a pattern of the student body,” Said Noah Shufutinsky, a rapper and digital producer who also works for the Tel Aviv Institute.

“It is important to stand together as a strong Jewish community at this time, and as a founding father in Greek life, I call on all my peers to come out against this anti-Semitic bigotry, not only in words but in action. This problem that has constantly raised its head at my alma mater.”

StopAntisemitism.org, a US-based anti-Semitic watchdog group, called the act “OUTRAGEOUS” on Twitter, adding that “Jewish students deserve to feel safe on campus” and GW’s Vice President of Student Affairs and Students Dean, Dr. Tagged Sissy Petty. .

Petty responded to the tweet: “Awful. GWPD will investigate. I know this has horrified and hurt many in our community. I am outraged and saddened by this despicable, self-centered act.”

This is not the first act of hatred committed against Jews at the university. Last year, someone drew a swastika And Hitler mustaches on photos of then-President Donald Trump and then-Vice-President Mike Pence, and affixed them to a Jewish student’s dorm door.
Jewish students at colleges across America have become concerned about anti-Semitism on campus, with many hiding their Jewish identities for fear of their safety. About 43% have personally experienced anti-Semitic sentiment OR witnessed anti-Semitic activities on campus and 15% felt the need to hide their Jewish identity, according to a study conducted by the Anti-Defamation League and Hillel International.
