Instead of a typical email, an employee created a quirky out-of-office video message to inform his colleagues.

Gen Z is shaking up traditional work customs and often surprising others with their unique approaches to office etiquette. This fresh perspective can be quite enjoyable at times. For example, while many employees stick to standard out-of-office emails stating they won’t be checking emails, one Gen Z marketing team member opted for something different. Instead of a typical email, he created a quirky video message. The video quickly went viral after a co-worker from Butter Insurance shared it with the caption, “Our Gen Z marketing guy set this as his out-of-office.” The video begins with an Outlook email that simply reads, “Hi there, Please refer to the attached video.”

As the person opens the clip, it features a plane passing with a bold text reading, “I’m out of office.” Followed by the video of the employee, saying, “Hello, if you’re watching this, I’m probably on the plane way to Europe right now. Here are some answers to frequently asked question. When will I be back? For all urgent inquiries send me an email and I’ll look at it when I get back.” The video concludes with the classic commercial music and text reading, “We’ll be right back.” The caption reads, “I wish this was a joke but he’s not even here to make this a video.”

Reacting to the hilarious video, a user wrote, “Gen Z are not bothered to inform at first place. They just disappear lol.”

Another joked, “Bros sending the entire company a 22mb attachment.”

“Gen Z style would be going on vacation without telling anyone and coming home to no job,” a comment read.

Another wondered, “At first I thought he was Jake Peralta from Brooklyn Nine Nine.”

An individual shared, “That’s definitely not genz but for sure that’s classy.”

One more mentioned, “Millennials would NEVER be this bold at work y’all. That’s the thing. We learned from Gen X to be terrified of management. Gen z is the one who can tell his job he’s also looking for a job on his own. That’s wild.”
