Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has not yet given any statement on Rahul Gandhi’s demand and his silence on this issue is being discussed in political circles.

Veteran leaders said, Gehlot is fighting hard to repeat his government in the upcoming Rajasthan assembly elections. It is an electoral state ruled by a Congress government. So it would be a grave mistake to issue any such statement at this juncture.”

Other leaders said Gehlot himself is leading the show and has set a legacy by announcing social security schemes that have created a national identity. He is leading the show with his work and not caste-based demands, and hence he wants to remain silent.

“The issue of reservation in Rajasthan had already created a national challenge when Gujjars blocked railway tracks demanding reservation. After much deliberation, the issue was settled under MBC quota. That’s why the chief minister doesn’t want to open the Pandora’s box this time,” said a Gujjar leader.
