VARANASI: The city skies were adorned with vibrant colors in fog on Wednesday morning as 11 hot air balloons quietly began to skyrocket from near the Hanuman temple in Domri area on the opposite bank of the river. GangesThe three-day hot air balloon fest kicks off.
On the first day of the festival, around 50 selected persons got a chance to see the mythical ghats along the Ganges river and other sites of the city from a height of about 1000 feet.

Officials said the pilots, including four from India, two from Poland, two from the UK, one each from Lithuania, Finland and the Netherlands, were guided by the airport’s air traffic control system. Balloon Shivpur Link Road, Pisaur Bridge, Daniyalpur, Lohta, Barhauli and drawing pin (all on the outskirts of the city) and at the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth ground in the city.
The festival will start seeing the participation of the ticketed crowd from Thursday evening, said Srivastava Having said that the balloons will enable the locals as well as tourists to see the ghats on the banks of river Ganga from the sand on the opposite bank. Each ticket is being sold for Rs 500, he said, adding that a large number of tickets have been booked with the opening of the sale.
