Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday inaugurated a multi-specialty charitable hospital at Sinhagad Fort area in Pune, Maharashtra. Speaking on the occasion, he narrated an interesting anecdote related to industrialist Ratan Tata.

Gadkari said that he was then a minister in the Shiv Sena-BJP government in Maharashtra. A hospital in the name of late RSS chief KB Hedgewar was being inaugurated in Aurangabad. A senior RSS functionary expressed his desire that the hospital be inaugurated by Ratan Tata and asked me to help.

Gadkari said that he then approached Tata and persuaded him to inaugurate the hospital, citing Tata Cancer Hospital’s contribution in providing cancer care to the poor in the country.

Tata asked questions on reaching the hospital
On reaching the hospital, Tata asked if this hospital was only for the people of the Hindu community. I asked him why do you think so. He replied immediately, because it belongs to the RSS.

The Union Minister said that I told him that the hospital is for all communities and the RSS does not discriminate on the basis of religion. Gadkari said that he then told Tata many things about the Sangh, which made Ratan Tata very happy.
