G-23 leaders meeting on defeat: Sibal-Tewari reached Azad’s house after poor performance of Congress in 5 states, demanded to make new president

The leaders of the G-23 faction within the Congress have become active again after losing power in Punjab and getting a crushing defeat in UP, Uttarakhand, Goa. A meeting of these leaders was held on Friday at the house of former Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, in which many leaders including Anand Sharma, Manish Tewari and Kapil Sibal reached. According to sources, in the meeting, all the leaders have demanded the appointment of a new president in the Congress at the earliest.

Earlier, CWC member Ghulam Nabi Azad said that my heart weeps with the defeat of Congress. Talking to the English newspaper Indian Express, Azad said that we have given full youth to form the party. Now I hope that the Congress high command will pay attention to the things which we have been raising from the beginning.

Tharoor’s demand – surgery should be done from top to bottom in Congress
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor tweeted after the defeat and demanded changes from the party high command. Tharoor said, ‘One thing is absolutely clear. If you want success, you cannot avoid change. Tharoor further said that all those who believe in the Indian National Congress are deeply hurt by the performance of the Congress in the assembly elections.

At the same time, a Congress leader told that Priyanka Gandhi has held 209 rallies and road-shows in UP. Rahul Gandhi also went to the Dalit family’s place in Hathras, but nothing was found in the result. Actually, people are not trusting us. Congress has to work on this. You can’t just make excuses.

Congress President is to be elected
The election of the 87th Congress President is to be held in September this year. The process will start with enrollment from April 1.
