I went on a journey wearing India Blues as a little girl because it is the highest honor to represent your country. The journey was full of highs and some lows. Each incident taught me something unique and the last 23 years have been the most fulfilling, challenging and enjoyable years of my life.

Like all journeys, this too must come to an end.

Today is the day I am retiring from all forms of international cricket.

Every time I stepped on the field, I gave my best with the intention of helping India win. I will always cherish the opportunity I have got to represent the tricolor.

I think now is the right time to unveil my playing career as the team is in the hands of some very talented young players and India cricket has a bright future.

I would like to thank the BCCI and Mr. Jay Shah sir (Honorary Secretary, BCCI) for all the support – first as a player and then as the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team.

It was an honor to lead the team for so many years. It definitely shaped me as a person and hopefully helps shape Indian women’s cricket as well.

This journey may have come to an end but there is another sign as I would love to be involved in the sport that I love and contribute to the growth of women’s cricket in India and around the world.

Special mention to all my fans, thank you for all your love and support
