A top-level official said the government has asked the National Security Guard to visit and submit a report on establishing a base for troops in Ayodhya, including an anti-drone facility that could help secure the area in case of an attack
A National Security Guard (NSG) team is in Ayodhya and has visited the Ram Mandir and Hanumangarhi Temple to carry out mapping, surveying, familiarisation and mock drills. According to sources in the NSG, the team, comprising two senior officials, will oversee the area as the NSG prepares to establish a centre in Ayodhya.
A top-level official said the government, to meet the force’s requirements, has asked the NSG to visit and submit a report on establishing a base for troops in Ayodhya, including an anti-drone facility that could help secure the area in case of an attack. This unit will have a specialised anti-drone component and will be combat-ready 24×7 to thwart any aerial attack.
“The team, while setting up a hub or centre, will analyse the area, including sensitive and vulnerable locations, and review the infrastructure and buildings, which in this case are temples. The team will document every detail so that in the event of an attack, they can effectively address the situation. The NSG has established standard operating procedures that must be followed, and a report will be submitted based on the team’s findings. It is expected that by next year, the NSG will have a hub with a team supervised by a senior officer to oversee Ayodhya and nearby cities in case of an attack,” a senior government official told News18.
The search for land to establish the base is currently underway and further plans will depend on the area zeroed-in on.
The NSG has also planned an anti-drone facility for which the team will conduct a survey. This facility will coordinate with the Bomb Data Centre, which collects, collates, analyses, and evaluates all terrorist bombing activities reported in India and abroad. The Centre also disseminates relevant information to law enforcement agencies concerned as needed.
The Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which was inaugurated in January this year, is considered one of India’s most sensitive installations and is believed to be a target for various terror outfits.
