From Mango Dal to Biryani: PM, Home Minister, BJP stalwarts savor the signature dishes of Telangana

From mango dal to biryani, several signature dishes from Telangana were on the menu during the luncheon on Sunday for BJP stalwarts, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who attended the party’s two-day national executive meeting. BJP sources said that though the delegates who attended the meeting have been enjoying five-star hospitality for the past two days, the Telangana BJP decided to introduce them to special Telangana food items.

State BJP President and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay, who engaged the caterer G Yadamma, prepared the menu keeping in mind the tastes of leaders from different parts of the country. The six-member team led by Yadamma was involved in preparing over 50 different dishes apart from Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and party’s national president JP Nadda, besides Union ministers, chief ministers and executive members of BJP-ruled states. A BJP release said.

It further states that apart from the items served for lunch, snacks, sweets and sweets were also prepared in Telangana style. Main course included Tomato-Beans Curry, Aloo Kurma (Potato Gravy), Bagara Baingan (Spiced Brinjal), Ivy Gourd-Coconut Fry, Okra- Cashew and Groundnut Fry, Ridge Gourd Fry Meal Maker Flakes, Methi- Moong Dal Fry . , Mango Dal, Biryani, Pulihora, Mint Rice, White Rice, Curd Rice, Gongura Pickle, Cucumber Chutney, Tomato Chutney and Gourd Chutney.

Similarly, snacks include garelu made from moong dal, sakinalu, maize gudalu and sarva pindi and various chutneys prepared from tomato, groundnut, coconut and chilli, the BJP said.
