One horrifying incident involved a first-class mail delivery of a severed human finger to French President Emmanuel Macron. The bundle was sent without explanation to the Elysee Castle, Macron’s official residence. Police are yet to identify the suspect as investigation is on to ascertain the thought process behind the move. Still, he has opened a case for “misconduct or threats of a crime against an elected official,” as CNN reports.

A source in the President’s Office told the Night Standard: “At first the finger was placed in a refrigerator where the police kept their cut pieces. This was done to make sure it was safe and as fast as possible.” The dissection could be done as fast as could be expected.”

After the strange bundle was opened, experts carried out tests on it which revealed that the finger contained a “live human being”, who was reached and given “full medical assistance”. However, as per reports, due to medical confidentiality, the person was not named.

During his long tenure, the French president has received some disturbing items in his mail, including bullets, but this was the first time that the first part of a dismembered body had been sent.

The incident took place before Macron is expected to lead Bastille Day celebrations in Paris. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the chief guest at this year’s parade, which has prompted experts to step up security efforts.

France has been on the boil after several protests in recent months. Macron has been the most troubled figure, remaining center stage and enduring the worst.

Following the fatal police shooting of 17-year-old French-Algerian delivery driver Nahel M, officials are not ruling out the possibility that an angry protestor sent the finger to send a message to Macron and his government, while in the first few months this year Vigorous protests were witnessed against his highly unpopular pension reform plan.
