On the occasion of Rakshabandhan, women have been given free travel facility in Haryana Roadways buses. This was announced by Chief Minister Manohar Lal. According to the announcement of the CM, there will be no fare for women and children up to 15 years in Haryana State Transport buses. This facility will be applicable for 36 hours from 12 noon on Saturday 21st August to 12 midnight of 22nd August. CM said that taking advantage of this facility of the government, maximum number of women will be able to celebrate the festival of Rakshabandhan by visiting their brothers’ homes.

Apart from the cities and villages of the state, this facility will also be applicable for going to Chandigarh and Delhi. This time some instructions have also been implemented in the buses in view of Kovid-19, by following which an epidemic like corona can be avoided. Buses will travel with 50 per cent ridership. Apart from this, have been vaccinated. This facility will not be available in air-conditioned buses.

Facility will also be available in city bus

Karnal DC Nishant Kumar Yadav said that about 137 buses of the district will travel from 35 thousand to 40 thousand km daily. Giving necessary directions to all the drivers and operators of the district for traveling to women, instructions have been given to increase the frequency of buses on most of the routes. This facility will also be available in city bus service.

Facility available since 2006

In the year 2006, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda started free bus travel for women on Raksha Bandhan, which continued till the year 2019. Due to Corona, there was no free travel for women on Raksha Bandhan in the year 2020. This time orders have been given to run the bus with 50 percent passengers.
