A gang of fraudsters has been active in distorting and manipulating social media platforms in various ways to extort money from celebrities. Recently, Tamil actor Shalu Shamu almost became a victim of internet fraud and hacking.
Shalu Shamu is known for his roles in films like Mr Local and Rekka. He also has a huge fan following on social media. Recently, a scammer attempted to hack into the actor’s social media account, he informed his followers on Twitter.
She shared a video in which she narrates how she cleverly escaped a trap intended to hack into her Instagram account. Attaching the screenshot to the video, Shalu said in the video that she was in conversation with a makeup artist on Instagram, who had worked with her earlier.
He said that makeup artist Uma asked him for help saying that she was having trouble logging into her Facebook account and needed a security code from an Instagram user. After that, the artist provided Shalu an email address and requested to add him to his Instagram account.
As suspicions grew about her messages, the actor refused to do so and it was revealed that Uma’s Instagram account had been hacked and the hacker was trying to do the same to her by providing her a link.
“Since I had already experienced a similar experience, I searched and deleted that message,” Shalu said. He then warned his followers not to blindly follow any link, even if it was provided by a reputable person.
