France to announce COVID-19 booster shots for all adults

France on Wednesday reported 32,591 new COVID-19 cases, as the number of COVID patients in intensive care approached the 1,500 threshold.

France is expected to announce that COVID-19 booster shots are available to all adults, as well as stricter rules on wearing face masks and more stringent health pass screenings to prevent a new wave of infections, French media reported. will be made available for Health Minister Olivier Veran is scheduled to hold a press conference in the afternoon on Thursday.

BFM TV and the daily Le Figaro were among the local media who detailed the government’s strategy to combat the rapidly spreading new wave of infections.

BFM and Le Figaro said the delay between full immunization and the booster shot would be reduced from six months to five months and that the PCR test for non-vaccination would be valid for only one day. Booster shots will progressively become a requirement for a valid health pass to be required in France to enter restaurants, cafes, cinemas and museums, among other public places.
