Fox Lake water rescue continues after father of two children falls from tube

INGLESIDE, Ill. (WLS) – Emergency workers in the northern suburbs suspended a search for a missing person at Fox Lake on Saturday afternoon because of the weather.

Fox Lake fire officials said they received a call at around 10 a.m. Friday informing them that one person was missing in the water. Officials said that he was putting the tube behind a boat with his two children when the tube overturned.

According to fire officials, the children were wearing life jackets, but the father was not.

First responders searched the lake on Friday but could not locate it; Two kids are fine.

Fox Lake fire officials said the search was resumed with the boats at around 6 a.m. Saturday.

Crews are using sonar and drones to search the lake, but divers are no longer being used.

Fifteen departments have come to the aid, along with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

The man has not been publicly identified.
