A total of three people were arrested following a complaint by the PDO of the gram panchayat, which had planned the campaign as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The Panchayat had launched an awareness campaign on Independence Day to spread awareness about cleanliness and various government schemes. A vehicle decorated with pictures of freedom fighters went around the village making the announcement. The accused, who objected to Savarkar’s photograph on the vehicle, allegedly stopped him from proceeding and demanded that his photograph be removed.
