Biryani tops the list of Rasna’s favorite Bengali food. Be it Mutton Biryani or Chicken Biryani. Hyderabadi Biryani or Kolkata Biryani. This time the name in the list was ‘Lockdown Biryani’ of Forward Block. According to sources, Forward Block in Ward 26, 29 and 30 of Kolkata is distributing this biryani free of cost to about 500 people daily.
This work has been started on the initiative of ‘Azad Volunteers’ made up of members of the organization on the 72nd foundation day of the party on June 22. The party’s Kolkata district secretary Sudip Bandopadhyay said, “In the event of corona, sometimes lockdown is imposed by the administration sometimes. Due to this many people have suffered financial loss. The livelihood of many people has been snatched away. Some have lost their jobs. To stand with the people in such times, the canteen is being run by the Kolkata district organization of the party. And Biryani can serve good quality delicious food in less time. And the people of Kolkata are happiest playing Biryani so there is nothing else to do. “
But why lockdown biryani? According to the leaders of the organization, sometimes mutton, sometimes chicken and sometimes egg biryani is made. Although biryani is common, but it is given on the day it is possible to give. That’s why the people of the area have affectionately named it ‘Special Lockdown Biryani’.
