On the directions of the Supreme Court, the blueprint of the National Disaster Management Authority is ready, the government can take a decision this week

The Central Government will have to pay compensation on death from Corona, this has been decided by the Supreme Court. But the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), which is engaged in deciding how much it will be, who will get it and how to get it, has asked the Ministry of Home Affairs whether government employees and military forces should be included in the ex-gratia amount.

In a detailed note sent by the NDMA to the Union Home Ministry, information has been given about the process of deciding the formula of ex-gratia. At the same time, it has also been said that what should be the stand on giving ex-gratia amount to the families of those who died of corona in government employees and military forces, should be considered.

There is no provision for compensation in either of these services. Their families get help from family pension, gratuity, insurance etc. There are different arrangements for ultimate benefit in the armed forces. While minimizing the delay in assistance, the government can fix a time limit for giving benefits to them.

Along with this, a request has also been made to fix the stand regarding bank employees. Public banks have announced a compensation of Rs 20 lakh for the families of employees who died of corona in this sector. However, this compensation is not getting uniformly in private sector banks.

Census registrar general and health ministry will give list of corona dead

Informed sources told Dainik Bhaskar that the task of preparing the list of the dead has been jointly entrusted to the Registrar General of Census of India and the Ministry of Health. They have been asked to collect the exact list of corona dead through district and state administrations.

One scale recommended for each state

The NDMA has recommended that a uniform scale of ex-gratia should be adopted for each state. Bihar has announced Rs 4 lakh to the families of corona dead, Karnataka Rs 1 lakh and Delhi government Rs 50,000. NDMA says that this amount is not going from SDRF funds. Therefore, it should not be concerned with the existing scale.

PM Narendra Modi may announce on August 15

Bhaskar has come to know that the states have been directed to send the list of corona dead to the Ministry of Home Affairs before July 20. Based on this, the calculation of ex-gratia amount will be completed by August 14. PM Narendra Modi can announce this from the Red Fort the next day.
