Death of Devisingh ShekhawatEducationist and politician, Dr Devisingh Ransingh Shekhawat, husband of former President Pratibha Patil, passed away in Pune today (February 24), official sources said.

He was 88 years old and breathed his last at KEM Hospital. He is survived by his former presidential wife, a son Rajendra Singh Shekhawat, who is a Congress leader, and a daughter Jyoti Rathore.

According to sources, Shekhawat had collapsed in the wee hours of February 12 outside the lawn of his house in Pune. He underwent a surgery for the same, but later developed several other complications including high blood pressure, kidney failure, etc., which led to his death. death.

According to the information available, Shekhawat’s last rites will be performed at Vaikunthdham crematorium at around 07:00 pm today. Sources revealed that his wife Pratibha, 89 – who was India’s first female President (2007-2012) – is in shock over the sudden demise of her husband of 60 years (since 1962) – and was consoled by his family members is being taken care of. ,

An agriculturist and educationist-turned-politician, Shekhawat hailed from Amravati – where he previously served as mayor (1991–1992), and also as an MLA (1985–1990) of Maharashtra.
