Former MP Anand Gautam resigns from Congress, alleging neglect of workers

In a setback to the Congress, veteran party leader and former MP Anand Prakash Gautam has resigned from the party alleging neglect of the workers. Announcing his decision at a press conference here on Monday night, Gautam alleged that grassroots and hardworking workers were being neglected due to money and muscle power of prominent district leaders.

Gautam was a member of Rajya Sabha twice. Without naming former MP PL Punia, Gautam alleged that a senior leader of the party was trying to “correct his equations” to get his son to win from the Zaidpur assembly constituency and he had no say in favor of other candidates. is not the time.

“Such leaders are neglecting the grassroots workers and frustrated by this, I am resigning from the primary membership of the party,” he said. In his resignation letter sent to the UPCC president, Gautam said that he was hurt by the chaos at the local level in almost all the districts of the state. Senior Congressmen are being deliberately neglected, he said.

Gautam said that he tried several times to meet National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and even spoke to her on phone but people around her never allowed her to meet her. Asked whether his quitting the party was linked to his son Jayant Gautam’s aspiration to contest from Haidergarh seat, Gautam said there was no such issue.

Gautam said, “I myself was asking for a ticket from Haidergarh in 2012, but did not get it. The one who was given the ticket later left the party.” Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh to be held in seven phases will begin next month.
