Parkash Singh Badal dies: Former Punjab Chief Minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Parkash Singh Badal passed away at the age of 95 at a private hospital in Mohali, party sources said. He breathed his last at around eight in the night. According to news reports, Badal was hospitalized for the past few days and was having breathing problems. He is survived by a son and Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and a daughter, Preneet Kaur.

The mortal remains of 95-year-old Badal will be brought to the party office in Sector 28, Chandigarh at around 10 am tomorrow. His last journey will start from Chandigarh and go to Badal village. The last rites will be held at Badal village on April 27 at 1 pm.

He was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali

About a week ago, Badal was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali after he complained of breathlessness.

Hospital officials said that the former Punjab chief minister breathed his last at around 8 pm.

Badal was in the intensive care unit of the hospital where doctors were closely monitoring his health condition. Party sources confirmed to PTI that the senior leader had passed away.

He served as the CM of Punjab several times

Parkash Singh Badal was the Chief Minister of Punjab several times. He was the CM from 1970–1971, 1977–1980, 1997–2002 and 2007–2017. He was also the youngest Chief Minister to hold office in the state of Punjab, reports ANI.

PM Modi expressed grief

Expressing condolences, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Badal’s death was a personal loss for him. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi said, “Deeply saddened by the passing away of Shri Parkash Singh Badal ji. He was a towering figure in Indian politics, and a remarkable statesman who contributed immensely to our country. He worked tirelessly for the progress of Punjab.” Tried.” and propped up the state through critical times.”
