Azizullah Fazli was arrested on Monday when he tried to enter the ACB premises and forcibly take over as the head of the board, reports Pazvok News.

The VOA quoted an unnamed source at the Kabul police headquarters as saying that ACB security guards prevented Fazli from entering.


The former chairman allegedly had a fake appointment letter addressed to the cricket board on behalf of the leader of an Islamic emirate, Pakhwok News reported.

According to the report, Fazli was later arrested along with the gunmen in compliance with the orders of the Prime Minister.

ACB guards stopped him from entering and then opened fire in the air. Soon after, the video went viral on social media showing Fazli being barred from entering the ACB premises.

Government officials have not formally commented on the incident, but police and ACB sources have confirmed Fazli’s arrest.
