Assam district Burhi Dihing is one which gets severely affected during floods. The flood situation in Assam, along with its neighbouring state Arunachal Pradesh, turns critical. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reported that the number of flood-hit districts in Assam increased from 12 to 19. For the past few days, the water level of the Burhi Dihing has risen sharply due to heavy rains in neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh. Villages experienced large-scale flooding. This pathetic situation is experienced by the people living in the districts of Chachani, Naharkatiya, Dibrugarh in Assam. Dibrugarh district is severely affected due to the continuous floods even the Brahmaputra is flowing over the red mark at Tezpur, Neamatighat, Guwahati and Dhubri.

The floodwaters from the Burhi Dihing river entered into the house of the people, destroying everything within a blink. Though the people tried to save themselves and their belongings, nothing was saved. The contaminated water has destroyed the food supplies including rice, and other essential crops.

Not only Burhi Dihing, but the city of Chachoni is also under the waters. The homes of more than 150 families in that area were flooded overnight. Paddy and other food items stored by the people are also destroyed due to continuous floods. The residents of the area have taken shelter in the camps set up by the administration. The flood victims of Chachani are suffering the most as the floods of the Burhi Dihing have washed away their houses. The residents are hopeless as everything got destroyed due to continuous floods.

The newly built houses and the wonderfully decorated surroundings got destroyed due to severe flooding. Facing these demolishing crises, people from the places like Burhi Dihing and other districts have assembled in relief camps, praying ardently for the water to dry up soon.
