GORAKHPUR: Flights for Jammu may start from Kushinagar airport soon, said director Kushinagar International Airport, AK Dwivedi.
The flight will be started with a 70-seater aircraft and later, as the number of passengers increases, Boeing aircraft will be used. about 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh West Bihar will benefit from the new flight because apart from the people in the army, devotees going to Vaishno Devi will also be able to reach Jammu in less time.
“The Airport Authority of India and the airlines are in the final stages and the flight to Jammu may start in February,” Dwivedi said.
Meanwhile, the flight from Kushinagar to Mumbai has been suspended from December 19 due to weather conditions and low number of passengers. SpiceJet is planning to resume flights to Mumbai around the festival of Holi.
Kushinagar Airport, the third international airport in the state after two international airports at Lucknow and Varanasi, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 20. The first domestic flight from Kushinagar International Airport began on November 26 and SpiceJet started operating flights on the Delhi-Kushinagar-Delhi route four times a week.
