Five people were killed and a boy injured in a head-on collision between a car and a truck in Punjab’s Batala on Sunday evening, police said.
He said most of the victims were members of the same family, who were returning to their village after attending a marriage ceremony, when the accident occurred.
“Six people were traveling in the car. They were going from Batala to Chahal Kalan, which is about 7 km from Batala on Jalandhar Road. They were returning from a wedding function when their car and the truck collided head-on,” SHO Rangar Nangal, Inspector Gurvinder Singh said over the phone.
Station House Officer (SHO) said that five people traveling in the car, including a three-year-old girl, died in the accident.
“A 13-year-old boy was injured. He has been referred from Batala Civil Hospital to a hospital in Amritsar.”
