Gurugram: Health Department has prepared five facilities for taking supplements Sputnik Vmilf russian COVID-19 Vaccination. Gurugram is likely to receive a few thousand doses of the vaccine by the first week of July for those who receive the first dose. They can take a second dose 21 days after the first jab.
According to the department, the five government facilities where Sputnik V will be available are Sector 10 Civil Hospital, Wazirabad Primary Health Center, Pataudi Civil Hospital, Sohna Civil Hospital and Sector 31 Polyclinic.
“A three-member team from Dr Reddy’s Laboratories visited some of our government facilities to conduct inspections. They are satisfied with the arrangements we have made for the vaccine and we will be receiving our first dose of Sputnik V soon. We have freezers that can maintain a temperature of -20°C. This is one of the key criteria for getting the vaccine,” said Dr Virendra Yadav, Chief Medical Officer, Gurugram. Some private hospitals like Fortis in Gurugram and Columbia Asia are allowed to give Sputnik V, but since they have not received any information about the second dose of the vaccine, they are currently not giving any.
Meanwhile, Gurugram received 11,000 doses of Cowishield and 10,000 10,000 covaxin on Thursday. However, the Department of Health has no plans to resume the first dose of Covaxin any time soon, aiming only at those receiving the second dose. The chances of achieving this are slim as the Center has not allocated any dose of Covaxin for private hospitals.
“Currently, we are not giving the first dose of Covaxin to the recipients as we are not confident about its supply. Only the second dose of Covaxin is available in Gurugram,” the CMO said.
Residents seeking Covaxin jabs have expressed disappointment over its non-availability despite waiting for more than one and a half months. “Slots are available for Covishield but I want to take Covaxin as the second dose can be taken in 30 days. With Covishield, we have to wait for 84 days to take the second dose,” said Rakesh Sharma, a resident of Sector 31 said.
