Panaji: Porvorim Police on Saturday to book A woman and her parents for dumping a five-day-old baby girl Feather nerul Beach. Goa Police said that the child Abandoned In form of Mother was unmarried.
Police said a Nepalese national was on his way to work when he heard a baby crying from the beach. When he went to check, he saw the child and informed the police. A team from Porvorim Police Station reached the spot and rescued the girl child and later shifted her to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim for treatment.
Police Inspector Anant Gaonkar said they circulated pictures of the child for his family to trace. After seeing the photo, a nurse at the North Goa District Hospital identified the baby with a birthmark on its neck. The nurse contacted the police and informed about the family.
Gaonkar said that during investigation it was found that the family was a native of Verem, a native of Uttar Pradesh. On being called to the police station, he informed about the incident.
Police said the 22-year-old woman fell in love with a man at her native place and had a physical relationship. She was already four months pregnant when the family found out. After a failed marriage attempt, the woman’s parents brought her to Goa. She gave birth to the baby at the North Goa District Hospital and five days later they dropped the baby on the Nerul beach.
Police said that earlier a case was registered against an unidentified person and now the names of the woman and her parents have been included in the First Information Report. Police said that the family members have not been arrested yet.
