Finance Ministry releases fifth installment of revenue deficit grant of Rs 9,871 crore

New Delhi: The Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance in its fifth monthly installment has released a revenue deficit grant of Rs. 9,871 crore to the states on Monday. Till now total Rs. 49,355 crore has been released as Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant (PDRD) to eligible states in the current financial year.

This special grant is provided to the states under Article 275 of the Constitution. Grant 15. issued in accordance with the recommendations ofth Finance Commission in monthly installments to meet the gap in the revenue accounts of the states after the transfer.

What makes the state eligible for grants?

About 17 states have been funded during 2021-22. The quantum of grant has been decided by the Commission on the basis of the difference between the assessment of revenue and expenditure of the state keeping in view the transfers scheduled for the financial year 2021-22.

15th The Finance Commission has recommended a total post transfer revenue deficit grant of Rs. 1,18,452 crore to 17 states in the financial year 2021-22. Out of this amount Rs. 49,355 crore (41.67%) has been released so far.
