Finance ministry issues order to implement cabinet’s decision on DA, DR hike from July 1 – Times of India

New Delhi: Finance Ministry On Tuesday, an order was issued to implement the decision of the cabinet. dearness allowance (DA) up to 28 per cent from July 1 for central government employees.
last week, central cabinet 11 percent hike in DA was approved and dearness relief (DR) Benefit to over 48 lakh central government employees and 65 lakh pensioners for central government employees and pensioners with effect from July 1.
With this, the new rate of DA will increase from 17 percent to 28 percent.
In an office memorandum, the Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance said that the DA payable to central government employees will be increased to 28 per cent from the existing 17 per cent of basic pay.
The increase is included in additional installments arising on January 1, 2020; 1 July 2020 and 1 January 2021.
“These orders will also be applicable to civilian employees paid from the estimates of defense services,” it said, adding that separate orders for armed forces personnel and railway employees will be issued by the respective ministries.
In April last year, the Finance Ministry had put on hold the increase in DA till June 30, 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. From 1 January 2020 to 30 June 2021, the DA rate was 17 per cent.
