Film fraternity, State Govt. Mark ‘Puneet Namna’ in honor of the late actor – Times of India

Several prominent members of the Kannada film industry and top Karnataka government leaders called for a special event in the early hours of today in honor of the late Puneeth Rajkumar. A special gathering named Puneeth Namna was organized at the Palace Ground in Bengaluru to pay tribute to Puneet Rajkumar And both of Puneet’s daughters – Dhriti and Vandita, with wife Ashwini in attendance – celebrate their lives as a grand retrospective.

Puneet Namana was organized by Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) in association with Sandalwood Film Actors and Technicians Association. Earlier, KFCC President sa ra govindu Urged all fans to cooperate with the organizers as the event was planned for a special event, mainly involving Puneeth’s collaborators (including Tamil and Telugu industries). The entire program of Puneet Namna was telecast live on all major news channels.

Among the many dignitaries present was Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai who spoke a lot about the late actor and also made the posthumous announcement. The Karnataka Ratna is the state’s highest civilian honor and Puneeth Rajkumar became the second actor to join the elite list along with his father, Dr Rajkumar, who was awarded in 1992.

Popularly known as Appu or Powerstar, Puneeth Rajkumar has been one of the leading actors of Kannada cinema for nearly 20 years. Unfortunately, the actor will succumb to cardiac arrest on October 29 leaving the entire nation stunned and devastated. The two days after his demise saw a spectacular display as many of his enthusiasts lined the streets of Bengaluru to pay tribute to his mortal remains. Many of Puneet’s colleagues and friends from other film industries also came to the city to pay their respects.
