Mangaluru: Kannada district minister V Sunil Kumar said that file disposal week to clear all pending files in government offices, starting from gram panchayats to district-level ones, will be observed from February 19 to 28.
“After I took charge as the district minister, I understood that pending files and applications are more here. The drive will ensure that no files are kept pending on the tables of government offices. We have plans to clear thousands of pending applications and files in the district through the drive,” the minister told the media, at an interaction organized by the DK Working Journalists Association, here on Saturday.
The deputy commissioner and zilla panchayat CEO have been directed to prepare for the drive. A revenue fair will also be held in all the segments, and after the drive, beneficiaries will be informed on the status of their applications. The schedules of the revenue melas will be decided after consulting MLAs, he said, adding that he will consult all MLAs of the district to discuss development programs.
Kumar said that an Rs 8,000 crore project under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) of the Center will be taken up by the energy department to improve the quality of electricity, and also check the transmission loss.
To a query on solar-powered pump-sets of farmers, Sunil Kumar said that Rs 108 crore has been sanctioned to the state for solar-powered irrigation pump-sets under the PM-KUSUM scheme. “About 10,000 farmers will benefit from it. Under the KUSUM scheme, solar panels will be installed on the electricity feeders, to supply electricity to farmers’ IP sets. This will cover about 2.5 lakh farmers in Karnataka,” he said.
On shortage of sand and illegal sand extraction, the minister said a state-level high power committee will meet on February 14 to decide on sand extraction in CRZ areas of Dakshina Kannada.
To a query on cattle thefts in Dakshina Kannada, the minister said, “We will not tolerate illegal transportation of cattle. The police and district administration have already been directed to increase patrolling to check illegal transportation of cattle.”
