Clashes in the Indian National League (INL), a constituent of the ruling LDF in Kerala, reached a climax when supporters of two opposing factions of the party clashed here on Sunday in the presence of its leaders.
Party sources said a scuffle broke out in front of a hotel here after a section of INL leaders led by INL president AP Abdul Wahab boycotted the party’s working committee meeting alleging undemocratic action on General Secretary Qasim Irikkur.
In the last meeting, Irikkur had “omitted” the names of two senior leaders while preparing the minutes, which is said to have infuriated the Wahab faction. He said that when questions were raised on the action of Irikkur in today’s meeting, a war of words broke out between the two factions, after which the faction led by Wahab pulled out.
