Mahindra & Mahindra Chairman, Anand Mahindra was awarded the Padma Bhushan, which is the third highest civilian honor given to people who have rendered distinguished service in various fields.
Mahindra was awarded the Padma Bhushan in the field of trade and industry. Retweeting a picture shared by President Ram Nath Kovind, Mahindra expressed his gratitude and said that he truly felt unworthy to be among the other recipients.
President Kovind’s Twitter wall has a picture of him congratulating Karnataka-based environmentalist and social activist Tulsi Gowda. He was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour, for working as an environmental conservationist for over 60 years and planting over 30,000 trees. At the age of 77, Gowda has been named the ‘Encyclopedia of the Jungle’ because of his abundant knowledge about plants and herbs.
Mahindra retweeted the picture and wrote in the caption, “This government has long changed the composition of Padma awardees. Now, the focus is primarily on individuals making a fundamental contribution to the betterment of society at the grassroots level. I didn’t really feel worthy of being among their ranks.”
This government has made a long overdue, transformational change in the composition of Padma awardees. Now, the focus is mainly on individuals making a fundamental contribution to the improvement of the society at the grassroots level. I didn’t really feel worthy of joining their ranks. https://t.co/jor34tqx1w– Anand Mahindra (AnandMahindra) November 9, 2021

Really great prize; Such a unique list of award winners. feels inspired. Unfortunately SS Bhatnagar of CSIR and Swarnajayanti awards of DST are moving in the wrong direction with each year climbing to the next stage of “nepotism”.
Hope the academia will learn from the Padma awards.@DrJitendraSingh https://t.co/Gq5gtU8Ke1

The recent list of Padma awards is a welcome and refreshing step in the right direction and should be appreciated. The whole exercise looks even better than those suspected of being partisans under the Congress regime. https://t.co/AVmQzEoJgz— Gazanfar Ibrahim (@Ibrahim Gazanfar) November 9, 2021

How beautiful is my India! It shows how democracy and meritocracy work in India. Nobody cares and this is the beauty of New India, my India. Jai Bharat https://t.co/x2Wfvq6nTt— vishal (@2710vishal) November 10, 2021
Sir this is your humility. Your contribution to the top end of the economy is huge. Contribution being given equal importance to the lowest end of the economy is a welcome change. Both ends are needed to accomplish this. The government does what it preaches. Everybody’s company will help in everybody’s growth. https://t.co/MfcblhmH2m– Ram Bhogle (Ram_Bhogle) November 9, 2021
Couldn’t disagree more. Activists, social workers, change makers were recognized even earlier. Like Jaitley, Swaraj, Parrikar and sycophants like Kangana, Swapan Dasgupta or Anupam Kher are now honored! The only thing that has changed is the government’s media management. https://t.co/KK5z1Tk20t
