Mitchell Starc was honoured with the Player of the Match award after KKR lifted the winner’s trophy for IPL 2024.

It was a spectacular, albeit one-sided, wrap-up of the latest season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), with the Kolkata Knight Riders bagging the winner’s trophy. Showcasing their dominance from the very first over, KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the finals on Sunday, May 26. While fans are celebrating the team’s much-awaited victory, food delivery giants — Zomato and Swiggy — have also reacted to the big moment. To begin with, Zomato congratulated KKR on their IPL 2024 win, further suggesting something for Mitchell Starc ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.

“Congrats KKR. pls feed sooooo many sweets to Starc, he fails the fitness test for world cup,” Zomato wrote in its latest post. “Time to win the world cup,” it added in the caption.

Social media users instantly reacted to the post, leaving funny comments. A user wrote, “Hope Starc turns into veg biryani in WC,” while another commented, “Too bad SRH, Kolkata is famous for its Arsalan Biryani. Turns out even Biryani ain’t yours.”

“In the end, Aloo wali Biryani won hearts,” another user remarked, while another one wrote, “The storm before the cyclone.”

Joining the bandwagon, Swiggy, Zepto, and Blinkit also dropped their unique versions to congratulate the purple boys.

It is worth mentioning that Mitchell Starc was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling in the final. He played a crucial role in restricting Hyderabad innings to a paltry 113 runs and claiming two major wickets. Starc initially struggled to find his rhythm but eventually left a mark in the semi-final and the title decider.

However, his return to form might now become a matter of concern for the Indian team, days before the T20 World Cup starts in the United States and the Caribbean, which holds more importance for Australia.

Reacting to it, Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins seemed more than happy seeing his “old mate” back to form. In the post-match interaction, he said, “I thought they bowled fantastically. Unfortunately, my old mate Starcy turned it on again.”
