New Delhi: Announcing relief for NGOs and associations, who have applied for renewal of their registration under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act but are still awaiting a decision, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday extended their validity. FCRA The license is expiring between September 29, 2020 and March 31, 2022, till March 31, 2022 or till the disposal of their application, whichever is earlier.
However, the Ministry of Home Affairs clarified that the FCRA license of NGOs whose renewal petition has already been rejected shall be deemed to have expired on the date of such refusal, making it ineligible to receive or utilize any foreign contribution.

As per Rule 12 of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Rules, 2011, all NGOs are required to apply for renewal of their FCRA registration before the validity of their respective FCRA license expires.
this is the third time that home Ministry has extended the validity of FCRA registration certificates of those NGOs who applied for their renewal after September 29, 2020. The original deadline of May 31, 2021 was extended to September 30, 2021. After this it was further extended to December 31, 2021.
The Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday clarified that only those NGOs who had applied for renewal of their FCRA licenses expiring between September 29, 2020 and March 31, 2022, and were awaiting disposal of their applications, would be allowed MHA’s decision will benefit.
