Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan starrer popular show Humsafar has a special place in the hearts of fans. The show has a huge fan following across the globe. In an exclusive information by Zoom, theatre and film actor Imran Zahid confirmed the news and said, “We’ve approached Pakistan’s HUM TV regarding the stage adaptation rights for the Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan starrer Humsafar serial. We are currently in discussions with Momina Duraid, the creative head of HUM TV and CEO of MD Productions, who also happens to be the creator of Humsafar.”

Imran further said, “It will be performed free of charge, with no monetary gain, as part of an initiative to promote Indo-Pak peace following recent decisions by the Indian High Court and Supreme Court. The final announcement is expected in a few days. Additionally, I should mention that Sultana Siddiqui, the founder and president of HUM TV, and also Momina Duraid’s mother-in-law, is involved in the discussions. I wanted to share this news with you ahead of time.”

Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan’s The Legend of Maula Jatt, which premiered in Pakistan in October 2022 and revolutionised South Asian cinema, might finally make its way to Indian theatres on September 20, 2024, according to Bollywood Hungama. Zee Studios has reportedly secured the rights to the film, marking the first Pakistani release in India in years. Originally set for a December 30, 2023 release, the film’s Indian release was postponed after distributors withdrew just before its premiere.

Back then, an INOX official had told PTI, “We have been informed by the distributors that the release of the film has been postponed (indefinitely). We were told this two or three days ago. Zee Studios had acquired the rights to The Legend of Maula Jatt as they were expecting the film to do well. But because of the resistance from certain sections, the decision was made to not release the movie.”

Fawad Khan, known for his performances in Hindi films like ‘Khoobsurat’ and ‘Kapoor & Sons,’ is set to return to Bollywood after an eight-year break. Following the 2016 Uri attacks, Fawad paused his Indian cinema career due to the ensuing border closures but is now making a comeback.
