Father-daughter give Bengali twist to Sri Lankan hit song ‘Manike Mange Hite’, dedicated to Mamta

Sri Lanka’s blockbuster song ‘Manike Mage Hite’ has been adapted into ‘Ma Mati Manush Hite’ in West Bengal. A father-daughter duo from Medinipur have created a new version dedicated to the Chief Minister. Mamata Banerjee. And in just five days this track has become a big hit.

The Sinhala song ‘Manike Mage Hite’ (In My Heart) broke the internet and turned Sri Lankan singer Yohani Diloka De Silva into an overnight sensation. Many people in India and other parts of the world have posted videos of him dancing to the number. It has also attracted celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Tiger Shroff, and has become one of the most popular tunes for Instagram reels, spawning several local versions.

Businessman and social activist Rajesh Chakraborty and his daughter Aparajita have come up with a Bengali rendition with a song based on Mamata Banerjee’s popular slogan ‘Maati Manush’ (Mother, Motherland and People). From the Trinamool Congress chief’s days of struggle to his philanthropic projects, the song mentions everything, say the creators. Schemes like ‘Lakshmi Bhandar’ and ‘Swasthya Sathi’ etc. have been mentioned.

It has also been said in the song that Mamta should take over the command of the entire country. This comes at a time when the TMC president is busy preparing to contest the September 30 assembly bypoll in Kolkata’s Bhabnipur constituency so that he can continue as the chief minister. But after her party’s massive victory in the April-May state elections, Mamata has made it clear that she has national ambitions.

This Bengali version has been written by Sourav Mukherjee and the entire team has worked behind it.

“Mamata has done such an amazing job for common people, there are so many different plans, we thought we would like to introduce her through this popular tune. We are dedicating this song to him,” said Rajesh Chakraborty.

Aparajita said that this is her first song and it was because of Mamata Banerjee that she got the inspiration to do it.

The track, which has already become quite popular, is expected to be played again and again in Durga Puja pandals across the state next month.
