At the Tikri border, the Delhi Police started the work of removing the barricading and pucca barriers so that traffic can be restored soon. Two JCB machines and one crane were engaged in this work. The work of removing the blockades was going on till late in the night.

About a year ago, Delhi Police had closed the highway by putting multilayer barricading on the border. The spikes were also put up with the intention of restricting the movement of farmers since the violence during Delhi’s Republic Tractor Parade on 26 January. The main stage was built by the farmers along the border, where every day the farmers used to hold dharna and carry forward their movement.

The five-feet long highway on the Tikri border was opened on October 30, giving only two-wheelers, pedestrians and ambulances access from 7 am to 8 pm. The action was taken after a joint meeting of Haryana, Delhi Police officials and farmers in Bahadurgarh to open one side of the highway for vehicular movement during the hearing of a case in the Supreme Court.

An employee of a petrol pump located on the border said that two JCB machines were called to the border in the morning after leaving for the homes of the farmers of Punjab. The concrete barricading is multi-layered so the work of removing the boulder and concrete wall from the highway is still in progress. Only two wheelers, pedestrians and ambulances are being allowed to cross the border. The main platform at the border is yet to be demolished. However, farmers had removed some huts near the border this morning.

Farmers took out victory procession
Farmers took out a victory procession from Tikri border in the morning. They decorated their vehicles with flags and flowers to celebrate the moment. A large number of vehicles also participated in the procession at Jakhoda Mor. Gurjat Singh of Moga said that today is no less than a festival for us as we are going back home after winning the toughest battle. We reached here a year ago by taking on the Haryana Police and overcoming many hurdles on the way but are now going back as a winner. The most interesting thing is that the police is also wishing us all the best.

Removal of concrete wall and barricade started from Kundli-Singhu border, traffic will be smooth from 15
On Saturday, the Kundli border is almost empty. Now the concrete walls built on the Kundli-Singhu border on the Delhi side will be removed, for which the Delhi Police has inspected and started preparations to demolish the walls on Saturday afternoon. A three-layer thick wall was built on the border with a barricade of stones. Along with applying barbed wire to the walls, a thick layer was nailed to it.

These will be removed and traffic will be started. At the same time, the work of clearing debris from Kundli border on National Highway (NH)-44 has also started. The road will be started after repairing in three days. At the beginning of the movement, on November 26, 2020, when the farmers had reached the Kundli border, Delhi Police had made all kinds of arrangements to stop them. A thick concrete wall was built so that no vehicle could enter the Delhi border. Not only this, nails were also put on the last layer. After this the farmers started agitation at Kundli border itself.

Debris removal begins
With the departure of the farmers on Saturday, the exercise to open the Kundli border on NH-44 has intensified. Delhi Police has prepared a draft after inspecting the walls before they are demolished. According to police officials, the work of removing the walls will be completed within two days. Here, the work of removing the debris spread after the departure of the farmers on NH-44 has been started immediately.

The main lane is completely broken due to the ongoing work of widening of NH-44. The construction work on them will start soon. Meanwhile, the service lanes on both sides will be made suitable for vehicles to travel to Delhi from there. NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) will work to fill the pits of service lanes on both sides with soil and stones from Sunday.

NHAI has fixed 3 days time for filling the service lane potholes on both sides of NH-44 (Kundli border). It is believed that till Tuesday evening or from Wednesday morning, traffic can be done in Delhi with the help of service lanes. With the opening of the road, Dhaba operators, establishment owners, shopkeepers and mall operators on both sides will get relief.

Work will start as soon as the order of NGT is removed
Due to increasing pollution, the construction works have been banned by the NGT. Construction work is expected to open soon. In such a situation, the repair can also start from Monday. At the same time, the stalled work of NH-44 is also expected to start.
