‘Famous Person Whose Name Starts With ‘A’ and Ends With ‘I’ has…’: Mahua Moitra Attacks Adani, Modi Govt

New Delhi: TMC MP Mahua Moitra on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the government on the Adani-Hindenburg issue and said the billionaire businessman has ‘hat-wear-ed’ (betrayed) the country. Participating in the debate on ‘Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address’ in the Lok Sabha, Moitra said without naming Adani that a famous personality whose name starts with ‘A’ and ends with ‘I’ is not Advani. , Who was cheated by the stench of crony capitalism.

Soon after he finished his speech, there was an angry exchange between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and BJP members. Moitra was heard using some objectionable words, to which the Chairman objected and urged the members to refrain from profanity.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi asked Moitra to apologize for the ethics and said that if she did not do so, it would reflect on her culture.

Moitra brought two birthday caps to the House to press her argument that the most talked about businessman was “cap-wearing-ed” by the government.

He demanded that an inquiry be ordered against the activities of the Adani group.

Starting her address with President Draupadi Murmu’s address, Moitra said, “Every word I speak is a havan and an offering of truth in my ‘Maha Yagya’ of nation building.”

“I want to start by saying that as an ex-investment banker, I want companies to thrive. But I want honest, hardworking Indian companies to try and not be con artists. As one of my MP colleagues I like to say that the chair always asked me not to get angry. I will not get angry for what I have to say. All I will say is that we all have been fooled,” she said.

Moitra also alleged that the businessman gives an impression that doing things for him means he will be in the good books of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister.

Referring to a statement by the Adani Group in which it had said that the short-seller Hindenburg report was a well-planned attack on India, he said, “India’s pride is not the property of a single individual, India’s pride lies in its strength Its institutional structures.”

He said that a company which is in infrastructure gives five to 15 per cent returns if they are lucky and if they get everything right, but the multiple with which this company ‘A’ was doing business was absolutely outrageous .

He added that even Google, Amazon and Microsoft do not trade at such multiples.

The TMC leader said, “Honourable Home Minister, they have top-dressed you…they are getting security clearance from the Home Ministry…Madam, Finance Minister, they have top-dressed you.”

“This guy has been allowed to use LIC, and SBI to get money whenever he likes. Hon’ble Civil Aviation, he has ‘cap-worn-ed’, you are the shipping minister, He cap-wear-ed you the petroleum minister, he has ‘cap-wear-ed’ oil PSUs…Power minister he has cap-wear-ed.’

“India is on its way to becoming the world’s 3rd largest economy. Don’t let him waste his time in government with the stench of crony capitalism. Please order a full and thorough investigation into all the matters immediately… Our country’s reputation at risk I am,” said Moitra.

He also said that the House has also historically witnessed some of the biggest debates, some friendly, some not-so-friendly boxing matches.

“But it is more or less a sacred place where elected representatives can speak their mind without fear of partisanship… Today, and I say this with a heavy heart, the Lok Sabha is a place that stands apart from most for What can’t be said about it.” Hall, then what can we say. The list of people worth mentioning is actually much longer than the list of people worth mentioning,” she claimed.

“We can’t say China, we can’t say Pegasus, we can’t say BBC, we can’t say Morbi, we can’t say Rafale, and sometimes we can’t say Modi ji…”

The opposition is demanding a joint parliamentary committee probe or a Supreme Court-monitored probe into allegations of fraud and manipulation by US-based short seller Hindenburg Research against billionaire Gautam Adani’s companies that led to the unprecedented stock crash. The group has denied the allegations.

Opposition parties have alleged that the fall in Adani Group shares is a ‘mega scam’ involving common people’s money as public sector banks LIC and SBI have invested in them and questioned the government over the steps taken by it .
