Facebook probes use of company resources by outgoing executives: Report

Sandberg said she would continue to serve on Meta’s board after leaving the company in the fall.

San Francisco:

The Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter, that lawyers are investigating the use of company resources by Sheryl Sandberg, Meta Platforms Inc.’s outgoing head of operations, for several years.

The WSJ reports that several employees have been interviewed in connection with the investigation by Facebook-parent Meta, which it says has been ongoing since at least last fall.

Meta and Sandberg did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.

The report said the activities being investigated include Sandberg’s foundation, supporting Lean In, and the writing and promotion of his second book, “Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience and Finding Joy.” This is the job of meta employees.

Earlier in June, Sandberg, whose close partnership with CEO Mark Zuckerberg drove the growth of the world’s largest social network, announced his departure from the company after 14 years.

Chief Development Officer Javier Olivan is set to take over as chief operating officer, although Zuckerberg said he does not plan to directly replace Sandberg’s role within the company’s current structure.

Sandberg said she would continue to serve on Meta’s board after leaving the company in the fall.
