Extortion racket link behind Kanpur businessman’s murder: Akhilesh Yadav

Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday hit out at the Uttar Pradesh government over the death of a Kanpur businessman, alleging that “someone” is protecting himself and an extortion racket linked to the case. Businessman Manish Gupta died in a hotel in Gorakhpur. During a police raid late Monday night, the authorities prompted the six policemen to be suspended and booked for murder. Gupta was staying with two friends at the hotel.

“No policeman has been arrested in the Manish Gupta murder case. This shows that he himself did not run away but was forced to run away. Actually, no one is saving the accused but saving himself as its strings are linked to ‘vasoli tantra’ (extortion racket),” he said in a clear reference to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s claim that crime and There is zero tolerance towards corruption.

A case of murder has been registered against six policemen who are absconding in the case. A top Uttar Pradesh Police official on Thursday claimed that Gupta died of a head injury when he was trying to escape during a police raid at a hotel in Gorakhpur. He also said that Gupta died in a hospital during treatment.
