Explained! Why did the court reserve Aryan Khan’s bail order till October 20? – times of India

A sessions court in Mumbai was hearing Aryan Khan’s bail plea. Arbaaz Merchant, munmun dhamecha and other accused today in drugs case. After several arguments presented by Narcotics Control Bureau‘s (NCB) Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Anil C Singh and Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Advait Sethna, and Aryan Khan’s counsel Amit Desai Concluded, the court decided to reserve its order till October 20. Many were expecting the court to give its final order today, with some hoping that Aryan Khan will grant bail, while others felt that their bail plea could be rejected. But, the court decided to give its final order 6 days later on October 20.

Lawyers for both the NCB and the accused disclosed in a post-court hearing press briefing that all sets of lawyers have submitted copies of several judgments to the court, which the judge will have to study before passing orders. So the judge will need time to go through all the documents and pass the final order on the bail plea. Advait Tamhankar, associate lawyer of Tarak Saeed, who is representing Arbaaz Merchant in the case, said, “Lawyer Amit Desai has argued that this case is not related to any conspiracy but it is about an independent recovery. Now the court decided to reserve this order for October 20. Amit Desai, ASG Anil C Singh and all other lawyers present in the court have submitted copies of several judgments in the court to support our claims. Hon’ble Judge has to read those judgments before passing his order, so he has to give so much time.”

Similar information was given by Munmun Dhamecha’s lawyer Ali Kashif Khan. He said, “After all the lawyers present in the court presented their arguments, all made several presentations in the court. The Court will go through all these submitted documents before arriving at its final order. Let us hope we get positive results on 20th October.

Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant, Munmun Dhamecha and dozens of others were detained and arrested by the NCB after raids on a cruise ship terminal in Mumbai and a cruise ship bound for Goa. After being taken into custody on October 2, all the accused were later arrested by the NCB on various charges under the NDPS Act.

Now all eyes will be on the Mumbai Sessions Court and this order is going to come on October 20. Till then Aryan Khan and other accused will be lodged in Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai.
