All-rounder Rahul Tewatia seemed disappointed after not being included in the Indian squad for the upcoming tour of Ireland, which included the 2 T20Is to be played in Dublin on June 26 and 28. The BCCI on Wednesday announced the squad which will be headed by all-rounder Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will take over as the vice-captain.
Since the senior regulars will be in England for the one-off Test at Edgbaston, the board has roped in several youngsters in the squad. Players like Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh will continue to be a part of the team, Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav have made a comeback while Rahul Tripathi has got the first call.
However, Tewatia, who has been proving his mettle in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for a long time, was again ignored. The 29-year-old shared a two-word post on Twitter which was enough to explain his feelings.
“Expectations hurts,” Tewatia tweeted.
hope hurts

The post garnered huge attention, being retweeted by over 640 people. Netizens lent their support and soon supported him to get an opportunity.

DK and Tripathi fought on their side. You can do the same, just keep working hard and knock on the door of the selectors.

Brother…keep working hard…work on your fitness and bowling..you are a good finisher. It’s just that we need an extra bowler who can balance the team… you will definitely play for the best

The most qualified finisher is again ignored. You are not contributing to the bowling at all, that might be the only reason I can think of.

recently concluded IPL In 2022 Tewatia scored 217 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 147.62. Overall, he appeared in 64 IPL games and scored 738 runs, including one half-century. He also has 32 wickets to his name.
Tewatia has impressed everyone with his finishing skills. He played several important innings for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022, including the match-winning innings against Punjab Kings. The Hardik Pandya-led side needed 12 runs off just 2 balls when Tewatia smashed Odion Smith for sixes after one, taking GT home.
Former India captain and batting great Sunil Gavaskar lauded Tewatia’s approach in that crucial situation, saying the uncapped cricketer should be named ‘Iceman’ as he knows how to stay calm in nervous situations.
“What’s going on in his veins? This is not blood. snow! Rahul Tewatia’s nickname should be Iceman. If there was anyone to take Gujarat home, then Tevatia. It was in his arc. He likes to go outside the off-stump and play shots, we have seen him do that.
