Exemption sought for Ganpati immersion Vadodara News – Times of India

Vadodara: The Garba capital of the state can also be called the Ganapati capital. While the relaxation of curfew by the state government till midnight during the festival has brought some relief, other aspects like installation and immersion processions are still under debate.
The issue of the size of the pandals became clear on Wednesday when Minister Yogesh Patel discussed it in a cabinet meeting. Patel said after his representation it was decided that the pandals should not be bigger than 300 square feet.
The organizers have also demanded that some concessions should be made for the immersion processions and DJs should be allowed. Many organizers have argued that political parties were running programs with large crowds and DJs, but the Ganpati procession was not being allowed.
Another aspect that has raised eyebrows is that the artificial ponds were still not ready for immersion. Patel said they have discussed this as well and arrangements will be made.
Vadodara Municipal Corporation Mayor Keyur Rokadia said the civic body would follow the guidelines. He said, ‘As soon as the guidelines are received, arrangements will be made according to the rules there.
