Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday condoled the death of CDS General Bipin Rawat in a military helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu. His wife Madhulika Rawat and 12 other personnel were also on board. All of them died in the air crash,

Modi tweeted, “General Bipin Rawat was an outstanding soldier. A true patriot, he contributed immensely to the modernization of our armed forces and security apparatus. His insight and outlook on strategic matters was exceptional. I am deeply saddened by his passing away. .Om Shanti”, Modi tweeted.

Modi wrote about Rawat’s phenomenal contribution to the Indian Army as India’s first CDS.

PM Modi tweeted, “As India’s first CDS, General Rawat worked on various aspects relating to our Armed Forces including defense reforms. He brought with him a rich experience of serving in the Army. India His exceptional service will never forget.”

Meanwhile, expressing deep grief over the death of Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said his untimely demise is an irreparable loss to the armed forces and the country.

General Rawat, his wife Madhulika and 11 others aboard an Indian Air Force helicopter died in an accident near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, the Indian Air Force said.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has also condoled the incident. “I extend my condolences to the family of General Bipin Rawat and his wife. This is an unprecedented tragedy and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. Heartfelt condolences to all those who lost their lives. Unite in grief”, he tweeted.

Home Minister Amit Shah wrote, “It is a very sad day for the entire nation as we have lost our CDS, General Bipin Rawat ji in a very tragic accident. He said that the bravest soldiers, who are extremely Has served the motherland with devotion. His exemplary contribution and commitment cannot be described in words. I am deeply pained”.
