According to the administration and court sources, there were allegations of severe floods in Malda in 2019. After investigation, the administration came to know that government money has to be sent to the accounts of the affected people for relief. But it has been seen that the amount of compensation of more than one person has been sent to the account of the same person. This caused a stir in Malda. The administration remained restless. Court has directed for FIR. But the police is yet to arrest the accused. Police claim that the accused is a fugitive. Meanwhile, the court has strongly reprimanded the state government for the entire incident.
According to court sources, the state government has practically accepted in the High Court that the relief amount is a major concern after the floods in Malda. The Panchayat head has a direct hand in the relief amount. Meanwhile, Advocate General Soumendranath Mukherjee has filed a petition in the court seeking one more week to prove that the administration is working.
