Making his first start of the tournament, Dolberg gave his team the lead in the 27th minute with a fine individual goal, curling from outside the field into the top corner.
He doubled Denmark’s advantage in Amsterdam at the start of the second half, ruthlessly pounced on a loose ball when Wells failed to pass a cross from Dolberg’s strike partner Martin Braithwaite after a run on the right wing.
Wells suffered a major setback when Conor Williams was dismissed in the first half following a groin injury. Neko Williams could not make a positive impact after coming off the bench, and his poor clearance from the Brathwaite cross resulted in the second goal.
Wales, who made the semi-finals of Euro 2020, ended their competition this year without making a mark.
Denmark, on the other hand, have come a long way, losing badly on Kristian Eriksson’s pitch in a 0-1 loss to Finland. Denmark are set to face the Netherlands or the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals, after registering their only group stage win – a 4–1 win over Russia.
