EU drug regulator to decide on Pfizer booster in early October

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) will likely decide in early October whether to support the third dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, given half a year after the initial two-shot course.

“The results of this evaluation are expected in early October, unless supplemental information is needed,” Marco Cavallari, head of vaccine strategy for the European Medicines Agency (EMA), said in a press briefing on Thursday.

Reuters reported earlier in the day that the EMA is expected to come to a conclusion on booster doses in early October.
