Southampton: After losing Sri Lanka in the three-match T20 series England captain Eoin Morgan Appreciated his team’s bowling performance in all three matches.
David Malana David Willey hit a sensational half-century before taking three wickets as England beat Sri Lanka by 89 runs in the third and final T20I on Saturday.
England beat Sri Lanka 3-0 in the series with a win over the visitors on Saturday. The hosts scored 180 runs in their 20 overs and then sealed the series by bowling out Sri Lanka for 91 in dead rubber. (Achievement:)
“The biggest thing for me in this series has been our bowling performance. People have adapted to the conditions,” Morgan said in a post-match presentation.
“To bowl the first 16 overs of all seams today was excellent. We can’t blame the bowlers for anything. Looking ahead to the T20 World Cup, we are looking to improve our powerplay and death-bowling.”

Morgan continued: “We’ve made some great progress and I’m proud of the way people have performed. It’s a great opportunity for people to stake their claim to the World Cup. We’re very proud of the players’ abilities. Be aware. Today was a great example. It was a very commendable opening partnership from Johnny (Bairstow) and David.”
Talking about the series loss, the Sri Lankan captain Kusal Perera Said: “We know it was always going to be tough but the batting hasn’t been up to the mark. We are not used to the pace and bounce and the execution was not great and we need to have good back-up plans. Team like this.
“We have to take responsibility and play to our strengths and that’s the best way to deal with situations like this.”
Malan was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ while Sam Curran was adjudged ‘Player of the Series’.
Both the teams will now face each other in the three-match ODI series starting on Tuesday.
